Rottnest Comedy & Short Film Festival

For 3 days in August (28th – 30th), Rottnest Island will come alive as part of the Rottnest Comedy & Short Film Festival. Western Australia’s best comedians and filmmakers will be on show to entertain and keep audiences laughing until their sides are ready to split.

Comedy:
The Festival will host the final of the “Best of the West” stand up competition as the flagship event on Saturday 29th August. (Three heats will be held at the Comedy Lounge on August 6th, 13th & 20th). The comedian deemed the funniest by a panel of industry judges will receive $5,000 cash and their own stand up tour around Australia!!

MC for the event will be Jeff Green (UK), a regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and has appeared on ABC’s Spicks and Specks.

Daily comedy events will also be held at Hotel Rottnest and the Rottnest Lodge, providing festival goers with an array of comedy acts from stand up to improvisation to zany street performers.

Film:
Western Australia’s finest filmmakers will be showcasing their best comedy short films from the past year. Films will range in length from 3 to 15 minutes with the only criteria being that it makes you hurt…with laughter.

Music:
To kick start the festival in style, Funk Club's DJ Charlie Bucket is set to funk your socks off at the opening party.

The festivals closing party will rock out with one of countries most talked about bands, Perth’s very own Tame Impala.  They will be supported by locals Injured Ninja and French Rockets.

Festival Passes:

A three day Festival pass includes accommodation, return ferry, access to all performances and special discounts from Rottnest Island businesses. All for only $185pp.
