Propel Youth Arts WA presents Moonboorli (Beyond)

This event has passed!

If you think science is just sterile labs and white coats, it's time to take a step beyond!
Propel Youth Arts WA presents Moonboorli as part of National Science Week.
On Saturday 10 August, Propel Youth Arts WA will launch National Science Week in Western Australia with a day-long program of free presentations, workshops, performances, installations, activities, and showcases of the latest scientific developments from WA and beyond.

Moonboorli (Beyond) is a new initiative presenting science in creative and unexpected ways at the State Library of WA. Propel‘s General Manager Jamie McGleave said, “We are proud to launch National Science Week in Western Australia, with a suite of youth-driven activities that demonstrate how we develop understanding of our world through both science and art.”

Guiding the theme and direction of this event with his story ‘The Carers of Everything’ is Dr Noel Nannup OAM, who will be joined by an array of cultural and scientific leaders including Indigenous leader Shaun Nannup, keynote speaker and International Space Station Flight Controller Andrea Boyd, Dr Clint Bracknell from Edith Cowan University, along with many others.

Project Officer Zal Kanga-Parabia also stressed the acknowledgement to First Nations scientists and artists of this country and said, “Through Moonboorli, all Western Australians especially the youth of this state can find an understanding of our future together, our role to care for everything and a confidence in their path towards this.”

This year, Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology focuses on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Together with Propel Youth Arts WA, Moonboorli (Beyond) will be a gathering place for culture, creativity and ideas that bridge science and culture together.

This event takes place on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja and we pay our respect to Elders past and present.
