Opera in the Park - free event
Opera in the Park has become the indispensable date in the Perth summer arts calendar and The Mikado is a perfectly placed gem for this occasion. From its first performance at the Savoy Theatre in London on 14 March 1885 to the present day, its fresh witty lyrics and memorable tunes have engaged and delighted audiences the world over, it just bubbles over with good humour.
A young, talented cast of the company singers, including young artists Jennifer Barrington, Ileana Rinaldi, Roberto Abate and Sitiveni Talei join WASO for an evening of vital fun. So sit back and be serenaded by “Three Little Maids from School” and “Here’s a how-de-do!” with your picnic supper.
With the generous support of Lotterywest, West Australian Opera is able to send a live screen simulcast of City of Perth’s Opera in the Park to two regional centres this year. The event will be simulcast in real time onto live screens to be set up in Bunbury (Graham Bricknell Music Shell) and Geraldton (Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre).
