NAIDOC Week Community Art Project at Hawaiian’s Bassendean

This event has passed!

Hawaiian’s Bassendean will celebrate NAIDOC Week through interactive community art projects with local Indigenous artists. Celebrated across Australia, NAIDOC Week recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The project aims to celebrate the diversity and richness of Indigenous history and culture through community collaboration. Celebrated Noongar artist Jade O’Sullivan will undertake commissioned artworks at Hawaiian’s Bassendean, inviting shoppers and community members to collaborate in their art piece.

Collectively, with all individual pieces placed together, the art display will reflect this year’s NAIDOC Week theme: Voice. Treaty. Truth.

Times/dates: 9th July – 12th July, 10 am – 1 pm

Artist in Residence: Jade O’Sullivan

Jade is an emerging Noongar artist and draws on her own life experiences and the strong female influences in her life, who inspire her artwork. Jade is a prolific artist who loves experimenting with different mediums. Her work often features faces, vibrant colours and otherworldly landscapes

*Note that you will be able to collect your artwork once the project is over.
