KickstART Youth Arts Market

This event has passed!

Over 50 young people show off and market their creative skills!

Propel Youth Arts WA presents KickstART Market in partnership with Perth Makers Market

On Saturday 13 April, over fifty young people will display their creative talents by becoming stallholders at the Youth Week WA 2019 KickstART Market. Attendees will be be able to weave their way through the colourful crowds to purchase hand-crafted products created by young people.

Presented by Propel Youth Arts WA in partnership with Perth Makers Market, the market will signify the launch of Youth Week WA 2019, taking place on Propel Youth Arts WA's annual KickstART Festival Day.

Since 2011, the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival has offered a truly unique experience for young people aged twelve to twenty-six in Western Australia, providing an extensive range of free workshops, forums, performances, programs and special events every April.

Previous stallholder, Tara Rees said that participating in the markets gave her a sense of validation.

"It encouraged me to keep following my passions and gave me the confidence and self-affirmation that I was lacking. My market experience made me feel like my work has purpose and that I am valued as a young creative person."

Propel Youth Arts WA General Manager, Jamie McGleave said that the KickstART Market has been supporting young makers for nine years.

"This ain't your average market. Since 2011, over 300 young makers and self-starters have benefitted from being part of KickstART.

"We're so excited to have Perth Makers Market on board in 2019, sharing their expertise with us at Propel and, more importantly, with the young creatives involved this year!"

This is the first year that Propel has partnered with Perth Makers Market for the event.

Perth Makers Market owner and operator, Erin Madeley hopes that the market will provide a platform for young creatives to grow their businesses.

"Perth Makers Market is all about supporting the local handmade community and small businesses. We knew joining the KickstART Festival would be a fantastic opportunity to offer support for young people and help them build up their business."

The KickstART Market is a free event that will take place from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 13 April at the Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge. The markets are presented as part of KickstART Festival Day, which is the first day of Youth Week WA 2019 and features KickstART Music from 2pm in the afternoon, plus over 40 events throughout the week.
