Made under extraordinary, and extremely dangerous, conditions, JIRGA tells the emotional story of a former Australian soldier who travels to Afghanistan to seek forgiveness. An Australian film unlike any you have ever seen before, JIRGA follows one man’s quest for redemption set in one of the most dangerous places on earth: the boarder between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

A modern morality tale about a former Australian soldier, Mike, who returns to Afghanistan to find the family of a civilian he accidentally killed during the war. Seeking forgiveness, he puts his life in the hands of the village justice system – the Jirga. Directed by Benjamin Gilmour,, who along with actor Sam Smith literally trekked through the dangerous territories of the film setting the month in order to make the film, JIRGA is a courageous and empathetic depiction of the human costs of the War on Terror.
