The Jade Buddha for Universal Peace is the largest and most beautiful Buddha carved from gemstone quality jade. Including lotus and throne the Buddha is over 3.5 metres (11.4 feet) tall.

The Buddha has been carved from a rare boulder of translucent jade (“Polar Pride”) which was discovered in Canada in the year 2000. It was dubbed as “the find of the millennium.

The Buddha is based on the famous Buddha at the Mahabodhi Stupa in Bodh Gaya, India. Spiritual Director Lama Zopa Rinpoche named the Buddha the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace in the belief that this Buddha will inspire all beings to follow the peaceful path.

The Jade Buddha started the His world tour in Vietnam where over 4 million people has seen the Buddha. It is currently touring the capital cities of Australia during 2009 before travelling to USA and Canada in 2010. The Buddha is expected to travel for several years until eventually it goes to its home at the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Victoria.

The tour of the Jade Buddha is dedicated to universal peace. It is hoped that the Buddha’s presence in Perth will inspire everyone who sees it to find peace in their home, their schools and work, their family, and in their own heart.
