How To Dress Well - The Bakery

HOW TO DRESS WELL (NYC/Tri-Angle)
With special guests Ben M, James Ireland, Clunk, Modo and Oni Ca$h

How To Dress Well, aka Tom Krell, brings his unique brand of ethereal glo-fi to Perth on Friday, December 2 at The Bakery.

The most buzz-worthy artists of the year, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Drake et. all released albums awash with 90's soul nostalgia, but maybe none of those acts quite compare to the reverb soaked heart on your sleeve creations of How To Dress Well. The Brooklyn/Köln artist has certainly impressed critics, scoring himself an 8.7 on Pitchfork and being named in Stereogum’s 40 Best New Bands of 2010.

With washed-out melodies, reverb-drenched falsetto and bone-rattling, sparse percussion, How To Dress Well brings to mind Bon Iver on valium, but from a soul rather than folk background.

Last year’s record Love Remains, is a shimmering diamond of a release, fusing almost apathetic ambience with emotional intensity and fiercely intelligent production. It’s an understated record that draws on unexpected influences and is somehow simultaneously brutally honest and deliberately opaque.

In a live setting, How To Dress Well brings this intensity and emotional ambiguity to the foreground for what is sure to be a spellbinding show.

How To Dress Well has appeared at the Sonar Festival, OFF Festival, Rokslide Festival, London's XOYO, and completed sold out tours of Europe & North America and headline shows around the world. How To Dress Well is currently signed to Tri-Angle records, recently named the #1 indie label of the year by the American Billboard.

Support comes from Ben M, James Ireland, Clunk, Modo and Oni Ca$h.

Tickets on sale from lifeisnoise.com, Now Baking, Heatseeker, 78 Records, Mills and Planet for $19+bf.
