INHALT 1956.

CONTENTS 1956. The two high school graduates Theo and Kurt, who live in Stalinstadt, travel to the western part of Berlin for a visit to the cinema. When they see in the newsreel a report on the bloody suppression of the Hungarian popular uprising, they are so shocked that they insert with their classmates Lena, Paul and Erik during the lessons a solidary silence for the victims. With this action, however, they are targeted by the GDR authorities.

In vain does the school principal try to dismiss the matter as a harmless ruse. But that does not satisfy the Stasi. Students are interrogated, threatened and pressured. They want the names of the ringleaders to make an example of them. However, student solidarity is much stronger than expected.
