This event has passed!
Five Elements is a powerfully intoxicating cross cultural blend of music, percussion and dance, a unique fusion of South Indian Carnatic tradition, Western Jazz and Indigenous Australian didjeridu.
Rich in power, beauty and originality, the dynamic and breathtaking musical virtuosity display is "stunning, nothing short of spectacular." Daily Telegraph, Australia.
Featuring South Indian Mridangam play Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani with Indian flautist B V Balasai and Bharatanyatam dancer Rajeswari Sainath, Australian artists, Adrian Sherriff (trombone/shakuhachi), Stephen Magnusson (guitar), Sandy Evans (saxophones) and indigenous didjeridu player Amos Roach.
Five Elements is a musical conversation about the Panchabhuta - the Hindu classical five elements - ether, air, fire, water, earth. Saxophones, flute, keyboard, percussion and didjeridu, jam to the steps of Bharatanatyam in a resounding celebration of the rhythms and melodies of South Indian Carnatic and Western jazz traditions.
