Conversations With the Dead

This event has passed!
Written by Richard Frankland MA, directed by James Taylor with musical direction by Wayne Freer, this raw and powerful play pulls no punches and asks the question: How far have we come in the treatment of Aboriginal people in custody since the 1992 Royal Commission? Conversations With The Dead revisits the tragedy of Jack, a young ambitious Koori, whose role is to look into the lives of the dead and the process, policy and attitudes that killed them. Fusing together multiple time frames, a transformative set, a live soundscape, calculated stage movement and dialogue delivered with precision by a strong cast in order to explore Jack’s inner conflict and the personal struggles he faces. Frankland’s story is an immensely important one… (he) clearly understands the systemic nature of the problem, the futility of scapegoating individuals. The Age This is an extraordinary play…life reflected back in full colour.
