City of Vincent’s 2012 Summer Concert + Films
The City of Vincent’s 2012 Summer Concert program Live in the Park, offers a feast of music, film and family entertainment over four (4) delightful Sunday evenings in January and February 2012.
On Sunday 12 February, the City of Vincent’s Film Project will connect with the Live in the Park concerts, producing a festival atmosphere at Banks Reserve, Mt Lawley, from 5pm till late. Audiences and visitors alike can take advantage of the free film screenings and musical performances, on the river’s edge. Opening with Paul Gioia, one of WA’s top blues and gospel pianists, followed by Ruby Boots boasting richly arranged music in a melody that’s melancholic, frenetic and heartening, this free pleasant evening for the whole family aims to entertain. From 8pm, the festive buzz continues with four (4) Short Films set in or about the City of Vincent including; Picnic (Callum Denness and Grace Marci), Young Heart (Kennedyboy Productions), Dive 220 (Collette and rosemary McKenna, and The monastery (Community Film Collaboration). The City of Vincent is also proud to present its feature screening for 2012 as The Kings Speech, “A film that makes your spirit sore…”. This will be subtitled to ensure inclusive community engagement.
Live in the Park will finish on a summer high note of laughs and dancing, with Sea of Tunes, delivering an authentic summer set-list of classic songs from one of the biggest bands in history, The Beach Boys. The City’s events team is pulling out all the stops to make this exciting festival the best yet, with an eclectic mix of visual and musical entertainment for the entire community.
In keeping with the community theme, each of the Summer Concerts will feature ice cream and coffee vendors, recycling displays, kids’ activities and information on keeping our community clean and safe.
