ARTillery Festival 09

ARTillery Youth Arts Festival. It’s quite simple really. Young people + the arts + human rights = ART as our ARTillery to defend human rights.

We challenge local up and coming artists, musicians, actors, dancers and spoken word artists to communicate human rights messages through their art forms.  Then we invite a whole bunch of young Western Australians to come to a range of different art events, to experience human rights in a completely new way.

We're not going to lecture you on what human rights are.  But we want you to fight for womens’ rights, child rights, to fight against poverty, to fight for human dignity, and to fight for the protection of rights – all through the arts.  Whether it is coming to a music gig to appreciate the power of awesome female musicians, seeing a play about the rights of children in conflict zones, or getting involved in a street art workshop – you are contributing to a movement to change the way that young people perceive human rights. Plus, we have plenty of actions available so you can tell the Government exactly how Australia’s human rights record should be.

All of our events are not-for-profit, and any proceeds made go back into Amnesty International Australia.  ARTillery is organised by young Amnesty International activists for young Western Australians.
