Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival 2012

This event has passed!

Since its introduction in the summer of 2003, Araluen’s Chilli Festival has firmly established itself as one of Perth’s major cultural events. The move to Fremantle a few years ago was an exciting and positive one that has given the festival the chance to grow from humble beginnings at Araluen to a highly successful event attracting thousands of visitors.

Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival celebrates the unique culinary and cultural aspects of chillies and features a huge range of stallholders and entertainment.

The annual 2 day event has around 80 stalls full of chilli plants, condiments, sweets, foods and beverages, as well roving entertainment and cooking demonstrations with local celebrity chefs.
Chilli flavoured nuts and dips might seem like fairly standard options, but what about chilli flavoured fudge, chocolate, soap or shaved ice? The festival stallholders offer everything chilli from fresh and pre-packed foods, plants, pickles, olives, cheese, chocolate, beers, wine and so much more.

The best of Western Australia’s boutique breweries and wineries specialising in chilli beers and wines are showcased. The festival also caters for non-chilli lovers and children, with a range of mild and non-chilli flavoured products to taste and buy.

Entertainment at Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival is based on the cultural aspects of the chilli worldwide. A diverse range of music from Reggae Latin, Senegal Afro-Jazz and Brazilian is an important feature of the festival.

Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival’s carnival atmosphere celebrates the humble chilli as much as it promotes an appreciation of healthy living and culture. Celebrity chef demonstrations on cooking with chillies, herbs and a large range of fresh produce shows how easy it is to serve interesting and healthy meals. This philosophy of good eating is reinforced by principal sponsor Healthway’s “Go for 2 & 5” healthy eating and lifestyle message.
