ANZAC March and Legacy Blues Concert

ANZAC Morning March and Commemoration Service ANZAC Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

The City is proud to host a Memorial Service in partnership with the Canning Districts Sub Branch of the Returned Services League. This year at 7.30am the March will follow the route from Carden Drive, down Albany Highway past the Police station, into George Street West, finishing in the Civic Amphitheatre. We invite all to watch this significant March and support our veterans, families, schools and community. Following the service complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be served by the Canning Lions Club and WA Sikh Association.

ANZAC Legacy Blues Concert:

The 6th annual ANZAC Legacy Blues Concert has become an iconic event in the City of Canning and continues to grow as the only blues event in Perth on this significant day. This free blues soiree in the lush grasslands of the Civic Amphitheatre commences at 2pm and features local blues legends from across the state. It is family friendly and a must do for any blues fans or those who love to dance!

Plus hailing from Fremantle in Western Australia, our headline DATURA4 is the brainchild of Dom Mariani (frontman of legendary Australian garage rockers The Stems and Power Pop favourites DM3) and Greg Hitchcock (former You Am I and one-time New Christs’ guitarist).

In 2011 they joined forces combining a shared passion for full-tilt boogie, psychedelic rock and progressive blues. With a healthy nod to Early ’70’s Australian Psych/Blues/Boogie from the likes of Buffalo, Coloured Balls, The Aztecs and latter era Masters Apprentices, “Demon Blues” represents Mariani & Hitchcock’s love of hard hitting bell-bottom blues.
