Anne Frank Travelling Exhibition

This September, the Fremantle Business Improvement District (Fremantle BID) is bringing the travelling exhibition of the life story of Anne Frank – ‘Let Me Be Myself’ to the Fremantle Woolstores. The exhibition will run from September 13th – October 31st 2017. Compiled in Amsterdam, the exhibition tells the story of Anne Frank in the historical context of her time. It highlights the relevance of her story in contemporary society, particularly in relation to prejudice, discrimination, and exclusion. The displays enable the visitor to identify and relate to the personal story of Anne Frank with large graphic panels illustrating Anne’s happy childhood in Frankfurt, her family’s immigration to Amsterdam and their time in hiding. The exhibition is directed at people over the age of 10yrs. The exhibition consists of a historical section that centres on Anne’s life and a contemporary section that tells the stories of four present day young people and how they deal with prejudice, discrimination and exclusion. The exhibition is also supported by a 25 minute video and includes displays such as a booklet about the rise of the Nazism, the yellow six-pointed star which Jewish people were forced to wear, the Frank family’s hiding place and a replica of the original hand-written diary Anne received as a blank journal on her 13th birthday.
