This event has passed!

U3A provides exciting opportunities for ongoing learning for seniors in a relaxed social setting. Our programs cover a wide range of topics and include short courses, guest speakers and special interest topics. We are inviting all seniors to attend a free public lecture, A Chair is a Chair is a Chair, From the Romans to Ikea on Sunday May 26th 2019.

This lecture explores the history of furniture- making through the chair and is presented by accomplished interior designer and furniture- maker, Catriona Gregg. Catriona graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology, Perth, in 1983 with a BA Design. She continued her studies in the UK at the renowned John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood, Dorset, and then moved to London to work designing bespoke furniture and corporate and luxury yacht interiors.

Whilst with the David Linley Furniture Company her work included the 16.5m long English Oak boardroom table for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, N.Y. Also during her time in London Catriona designed the interior fitouts of luxury yachts being built in New Zealand, Turkey and the UK. Her work included the fitout of Greg Norman’s 69.5m superyacht “M.Y. Aussie Rules”

U3A is excited to offer Perth seniors the opportunity to hear Catriona Gregg speak and we hope you’ll join us at the Wesley Centre, 97 William Street, Perth, on Sunday, May 26th at 1.00pm for the lecture followed by afternoon tea. For more information about U3A explore our website at u3auwa.org
